Manufacturers should actively research and develop new materials for pallet production, such as honeycomb paper, laminated board, high-density composite board, wood-chip board, plastic, and wood-plastic composites.

Honeycomb paper pallets are constructed by bonding and pressing honeycomb paperboard with high-strength honeycomb supports. These pallets are lightweight, cost-effective, strong, and fumigation-free (having undergone high-temperature sterilization or anti-corrosion treatment). As eco-friendly products that meet environmental standards, they are particularly well-suited for air freight logistics.

Laminated board pallets are made from recycled, eco-friendly materials-such as waste paper and straw pulp-that are hydrolyzed and pressed into shape. Their compressive strength and load-bearing capacity rival those of solid wood, making them ideal for transporting high-end goods like electronics.

High-density composite board pallets are manufactured by pressing various waste materials under high temperature and pressure. They eliminate the drawbacks associated with traditional wooden pallets-such as knots, insect damage, color inconsistency, and poor moisture resistance-while offering high compressive strength, heavy load-bearing capacity, and low costs. Suitable for transporting a wide range of goods, especially heavy cargo in bulk, they serve as an excellent alternative to wooden pallets.

Wood-chip board pallets are affordable and practical; free from insect damage, knots, and color variations, they also make for a great alternative to wooden pallets.

Plastic pallets are already widely used in developed countries and hold immense future potential. Although the initial investment cost is relatively high, they offer significant advantages, including high strength, recyclability, and a long service life (lasting 6 to 7 years).
